A 22-year-old man arrested in Edmonton faces extortion and conspiracy to commit murder charges stemming from two violent incidents in Brampton, Ontario, according to Peel police.

The suspect was arrested during an Edmonton traffic stop on June 23, where officers found a loaded illegal firearm and drugs. He was initially charged with firearms and drug offences. On June 26, he was transferred to Ontario to face the additional charges.

The incidents occurred earlier this year. On April 21, a Brampton business was targeted in a shooting around 2:50 a.m., with investigators finding 14 shell casings at the scene. The accused allegedly fled in a silver Honda Civic. On May 26, the same man allegedly pointed a firearm at a person leaving his home around 8 p.m., but the weapon malfunctioned and the victim escaped uninjured. The accused was reportedly seen fleeing in a grey Acura Integra.

The suspect has been denied bail and remains in custody. The investigation is part of a broader focus on the For Brothers gang, an organized criminal network linked to shootings and extortion targeting South Asian communities.
