Ontario man loses bail review in Ryan Wedding criminal enterprise case
Rolan Sokolovski will remain in custody after appeals court upholds bail denial
A man accused of serving as the "de facto bank" for a violent criminal enterprise allegedly led by former Olympic snowboarder Ryan Wedding has lost his bail review. Rolan Sokolovski, a 38-year-old jeweller and former professional poker player, appealed Ontario's highest court to reconsider his detention, arguing his recent arthritis diagnosis and legal errors warranted release. The Appeal Court unanimously upheld the original decision to deny him bail, and he will remain behind bars.
