Most Quebec families will see an extra $127 per child hit their accounts on July 2, 2026, courtesy of Retraite Québec's annual school supplies supplement.

The payment arrives automatically alongside the regular quarterly Family Allowance deposit — no application needed. The amount ticked up slightly this year, rising about 2.05% to keep pace with inflation, roughly $2.55 more per child than last year.

The supplement covers any child aged 4 to 16 as of September 30, 2026. For children receiving the handicapped-child supplement, the age cap rises to 17. There's no income test: the money goes out regardless of family earnings, based purely on the child's age.

In shared custody arrangements, each parent receives half the supplement — $63.50 — if the child's time splits between households in the 40% to 60% range.

The payment is non-taxable and indexed annually to track inflation. If you haven't already, register for direct deposit with Retraite Québec to skip mailing delays and have the money land straight in your bank account.
