Chanel's new flagship at Oakridge Park opened Tuesday with crowds lined up since 7:30 a.m. for the noon unveiling.
Measuring 750 square metres, the boutique is the first in Canada to carry Chanel's full "universe"—fragrance and beauty, watches and fine jewelry, fashion. It's the second Chanel store in Vancouver and among the brand's largest in Canada.
The space, designed by Peter Marino, includes exclusive elements unavailable elsewhere, among them a statement crystal Goossens chandelier. Shoppers were eager to score pieces from Chanel's buzzed-about Métiers d'art collection by artistic director Matthieu Blazy, including the brand's popular shoulder bag designs.
Oakridge Park, which grand-opened May 28 at Cambie and West 41st, is on track to host more than 100 boutiques across its planned 650,000 square feet of retail and dining. Acne Studios, Alexander Wang, and the Time Out Market have already opened. The full development is expected to be complete by fall.
