Jersey Mike's Subs is coming to Kitsilano this September, opening its first Vancouver location at 1864 W. 4th Ave., the former home of Purebread Bakery.
The sandwich chain started in 1956 on the Jersey Shore and claims to be one of the first submarine sandwich spots in North America. The menu features fresh-sliced cold subs and grilled hot subs with customizable toppings. The house recommendation is "Mike's Way," which adds onions, lettuce, tomatoes, vinegar, oil, and spices to your sub.
The Vancouver opening arrives as Jersey Mike's expands across B.C. The chain will also open a location in Chilliwack at 7670 Vedder Rd. The Kelowna location—the first B.C. outlet—is holding its grand opening on Wednesday, July 29, and will run a fundraiser through August 2 benefiting Make-A-Wish Canada. Guests with a special fundraising coupon can make a minimum $3 contribution to the charity in exchange for a regular sub.
"The wait is over for B.C. sub lovers looking for 'A Sub Above,' and we couldn't be more pleased to introduce ourselves," said Ken Otto, CEO of Redberry, which owns and operates Jersey Mike's locations across Canada. In 2024, the chain announced plans to open 300 locations across Canada.
