Vegan fast-food chain Odd Burger is closing its only Vancouver location on July 12 after less than two years in the city. The restaurant, located at 2821 Main Street, cited a fundamental shift in the company's direction as the reason for the closure.
"The final blow came when head office made the decision to discontinue the in-house products that were such an important part of what we believed in and what we signed on for," the location's owners wrote on Facebook. "It changed the direction of the business in a way that no longer aligned with the vision we had when we opened our doors."
In December 2025, Odd Burger announced it would transition away from operating its own manufacturing facility and switch to sourcing from outside suppliers. CEO James McInnes described the change as "a major step forward in shaping the future of Odd Burger," noting partnerships with food technology companies would allow the chain to expand its menu and scale across its system.
The Vancouver closure sparked disappointment in the community. Social media comments praised the restaurant's quality and sustainability focus, with supporters expressing sadness over losing a local, ethical alternative to mainstream fast-food chains. The location is encouraging customers to visit before the final day.
