Arts New West is launching Buskers on the Boardwalk, a free outdoor performance series that transforms the boardwalk at the River Market in New Westminster into a weekly performance venue. The seven-week program runs Saturdays from Saturday, July 4 through August 15, from 1 to 3 p.m., featuring up to two acts each week.
The lineup highlights up-and-coming local talents, with a rotating cast of musicians, singer-songwriters, folk artists and spoken-word performers. The opening day on Saturday, July 4 features Cheska and Francis Henson, Camila Silva, and Sam Chimes.
Upcoming weeks include Ricardo and Chantal Marie Gauvin on July 11; Ashley Pearce and Melody Kruppa on July 18; Shalom Wiebe and Darryl Klassen (aka JD Miner) on July 25; Marlo Browne, Janet Kvammen, and Harmeet Kaur Virdee on August 1; Kaitlin Deavy and Rebecca Vander Zalm on August 8; and The RaRas and Pablo Zacarías (APÄTRIDA) on August 15.
The series is free and open to all ages, held on the Quayside boardwalk outside the River Market. The launch joins an expanding summer arts season in New Westminster, further establishing the city's profile as a community hub for local artistry and waterfront entertainment.
