The countdown is on for the 2026 Canada Day Classic on Wednesday, July 1, at Gates Park in Port Coquitlam — expected to be the biggest edition of the race to date.

More than 650 participants, along with hundreds of supporters and spectators, are anticipated. Presented by Vancouver Is Awesome and Kamino Running Co., the event has become a signature Canada Day tradition for families and runners across Metro Vancouver.

Organizers are actively recruiting volunteers to help run the event. Opportunities span multiple roles: Course Marshals, Water Stations, Medal Distribution, Registration and Check-In, Finish Line Support, Splash Zone Volunteers, and Setup and Cleanup.

Whether you're a runner taking the day off, a supporter of the local running community, or looking for a meaningful way to spend Canada Day morning, volunteering offers a front-row seat to one of the region's most energetic community events.

The Canada Day Classic prides itself on creating a welcoming, encouraging atmosphere for participants of all ages and abilities. Volunteers play a key role in that experience, from helping nervous first-time runners find their way to cheering finishers across the line.

As a thank-you, volunteers receive snacks and drinks throughout the event, and some will also receive an exclusive Running Is Awesome T-shirt while quantities and sizes last.

Volunteer registration is now open at https://raceroster.com/events/2026/115510/canada-day-classic/volunteer/register. (Desktop registration recommended; select the Volunteer tab to guarantee inclusion on the list.)

Feel free to invite a friend or family member. The more volunteers, the better experience for the entire community.
