The Canada Day Classic is just around the corner, and runners across Metro Vancouver are locking in spots before registration fills up.

Hosted in partnership with Kamino Running Co., the Port Coquitlam event combines a certified, fast and flat course with a race-day atmosphere designed to feel more like a celebration than a competition. DJs will soundtrack the morning with sets at the starting and finish lines. Spectators will line the course with signs and cowbells. Runners dressed in red and white will take over the streets in one of the Lower Mainland's most spirited Canada Day starts.

"We want the spectators and sponsors to chant, cheer and congratulate every runner that crosses the line," said Daniel J. Simpson, founder and race director at Kamino Running Co. "This race has a wonderful community feel to it."

The certified 5K and 10K races are built for runners chasing personal bests or simply looking for a memorable way to start the holiday. The Port Coquitlam route is fully measured, giving participants a reliable shot at strong finish times while staying approachable for newcomers. The event includes chipped timing, finisher medals, podium prizes for top male and female finishers, post-race snacks and drinks, and leaderboard results. Pacers will be available throughout to help runners stay on target while keeping the atmosphere encouraging rather than intimidating.

Organizers are building the event around community connection just as much as performance, with sponsor activations, giveaways, photo moments, and post-race gathering areas. Live music will carry through the event.

A free one-kilometre kids run opens the event to younger participants and families celebrating together. Registration is moving fast as race day quickly approaches on July 1. Find more info and register at raceroster.com.
