Surrey's annual Canada Day celebration returns Wednesday, July 1 to Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre with live music across four stages, amusement rides, games, food trucks, an Indigenous Village and fireworks—all free admission.
Country star Josh Ross headlines the Prospera Main Stage at 9 p.m., following a set by DJ Marvel. Ross, Canadian-born but now based in Nashville, sparked controversy last year when he called the U.S. "the best country in the world" during a show in Indiana, later apologizing on TikTok before playing Ottawa's Canada Day celebrations.
South Surrey's Lee Aaron and band take the stage at 7:30 p.m., performing songs from her 40-year career including "Whatcha Do to My Body" and tracks from her 1989 album "Bodyrock". Pop-rock artist Tyler Shaw performs at 6:30 p.m., preceded by Reckless, a North Delta-based Bryan Adams tribute guaranteed to deliver a singalong version of "Summer of '69."
Prog-funk-rock quintet Brass Camel performs at 4:30 p.m.—a full-circle moment for singer/guitarist Daniel Sveinson, who showcased his guitar skills for Surrey's Canada Day crowd as a 14-year-old in 2007, long before forming the band.
Other Main Stage performers include Berk Jodoin (3:30 p.m.), Antonio Larosa (2:30 p.m.), Cedar Hills Caledonian Pipe Band (1:30 p.m.) and Dhol Nation Drummers (11:30 a.m.). The event's Siam, KPU Community and Family stages feature additional music, dance and family-friendly shows. Since 2005, Surrey's Canada Day event has hosted major Canadian acts including Loverboy, Blue Rodeo, Trooper, Platinum Blonde, 54-40, The Sheepdogs, Sloan and Arkells.
