A 55-year-old man has been charged in connection with two separate incidents in Langley within the past week, according to Langley RCMP.
On August 12, police responded to a report in the Willoughby area after a resident discovered an unknown man in their backyard. RCMP officers located a suspect nearby and charged him with trespassing at night. He was held in custody until a court appearance before being released.
Police were called again on August 17 to investigate a break-and-enter at an apartment complex near 197 Street and 64 Avenue. Residents reported that an unknown man had entered their apartment before fleeing the scene prior to officers' arrival. Investigators located a man matching the suspect's description, but he allegedly fled on foot. With assistance from the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service, officers tracked down and arrested the suspect without incident.
The man has been charged with break and enter and obstruction of a peace officer. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
"Residents should never have to fear for their safety inside their own homes," said Supt. Harm Dosange, officer in charge of the Langley RCMP. "These incidents are particularly alarming."
