Canada's emphatic 6-0 victory over Qatar on June 20, has sent ticket demand for the country's upcoming match against Switzerland into overdrive at BC Place. Demand surged dramatically during and after the match. Local ticket reseller Kingsley Bailey, manager of Vancouver Ticket Service, said prices for the Switzerland match jumped 25 percent at halftime.

"As soon as they won that game, actually halfway through the match, at hydration time, the ticket prices just went up 25 per cent right off the bat," he said. "For Switzerland, it's through the roof." Tickets for Wednesday's match are available across a wide price range on FIFA's resale website.

As of Saturday, the cheapest available seat was approximately $1,300, while one seller listed a nosebleed seat for nearly $900,000. Many fans are willing to pay premium prices for what Bailey describes as a historic moment. "You want to witness history, go to Canada-Switzerland because you are going to see Canada qualify at the top of their group by the end of that game," he said.

The scale of interest extends beyond local supporters. Bailey noted that tourists from around the world have visited his office hoping to secure seats for Canada's World Cup run. He believes the current demand now exceeds anything the city saw during the 2010 Winter Olympics.

"There's no comparison. 2010 was a precursor to what's happening today. You cannot even compare," he said. With Canada capturing global soccer attention, demand for BC Place seats continues to climb as the men's national team advances through the tournament.
