B.C. saw multiple daily heat records broken Monday and Tuesday, with 14 communities across the province recording new highs.

Abbotsford's new record climbed to 33°C, surpassing the previous mark of 30.2°C set in 1992. West Vancouver hit 32.1°C, a jump of 2.6°C from the 1989 record. White Rock reached 31°C, far exceeding the 28.3°C record from 1936.

Squamish recorded the hottest day among Lower Mainland communities with 34.1°C, demolishing the 1960 record of 29.6°C. In Victoria, temperatures hit 30.4°C, up from 26.6°C in 2017. Bella Bella recorded a new high of 27.6°C, compared to 25.1°C in 1977.

The Village of Lytton registered the hottest temperature in Canada at 34.2°C on Monday, though this was not a new record for the village, which regularly experiences some of the most extreme heat in the country and has reached temperatures near 40°C.

Temperatures are expected to cool significantly Thursday, with highs reaching only the low 20s°C and increased cloud cover. Any rain is forecast for late in the day Thursday.
