Mount Pleasant Station is looking increasingly like a functioning SkyTrain stop. Construction photos shared by the British Columbia government show crews covering the underground station's concrete shell with permanent finishes — white ceiling panels, lighting, and large light-coloured tiles on the walls.

The station, being built beneath East Broadway between Main Street and Quebec Street, is the furthest along of the six new stations on the Millennium Line's Broadway extension. Crews have already installed the first yellow tactile strips along the platform edge, which help blind and low-vision passengers navigate the dangerous drop near the track.

Much of the ceiling still remains open, revealing the network of pipes, ventilation ducts, electrical cables and other equipment that will eventually be hidden above finished panels. Work to rebuild East Broadway outside the station has also progressed considerably — after a four-month full closure between Main and Quebec, two vehicle lanes reopened in mid-May 2026, followed by all four lanes in late June 2026, though intermittent partial closures continue for final sidewalk and paving work.

As HighOnCity reported in May, train testing on the eastern segments of the extension began in May 2026 and will gradually progress westward. The Broadway Subway is a $2.95-billion, 5.7-kilometre extension running from VCC-Clark Station to Arbutus Street, with five kilometres of tunnel and six new stations total. The project is set for a late 2027 opening.
