Nanaimo Station closure forces Expo Line delays; bus bridges in place
A medical emergency closed Vancouver's Nanaimo Station Friday afternoon, forcing transit riders to use bus services or a shuttle train between nearby stations.

A medical emergency forced the complete closure of Nanaimo Station on Vancouver's Expo Line on Friday afternoon, Sept. 4, creating transit disruptions as the city headed into the Labour Day long weekend.
TransLink announced the closure in a press release and put alternative service in place immediately. Westbound travellers must transfer to bus service at 29th Avenue Station, while eastbound travellers transfer at Commercial–Broadway Station. A shuttle train is operating between 29th Avenue and Joyce–Collingwood stations to help move passengers through the closure. The Expo Line experienced delays as a result, and staff were positioned at stations to assist customers. The Millennium Line and Canada Line continued operating normally.
The nature of the medical emergency was not disclosed. TransLink has not stated how long the closure is expected to last.

This is the second medical emergency closure on the Expo Line in recent weeks. As HighOnCity reported in August, Sapperton Station was closed for a medical emergency with a bus bridge in effect.
