Police in Abbotsford have released a composite sketch of a suspect who attempted to lure two young girls into his car on July 22.

Abbotsford police have released a composite sketch of a suspect in an alleged child abduction attempt involving two girls under the age of 10.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, the two girls were playing outside their apartment complex at 33538 Marshall Road when they were approached by a man they didn't know who tried to convince them to get into his car. During the encounter, one of the girls called out for her parents, who were nearby. The suspect left the area immediately.

The girls were not physically harmed.

The suspect has been described as a South Asian man in his 50s, between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-9 tall, with a heavy build and noticeable belly. Investigators believe he may have been driving a light-coloured sedan.

Detectives are urging anyone who recognizes the man or has information that may assist in identifying him to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225. Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time, or who has dashcam or surveillance footage, is also asked to call police.
