Starting Saturday, July 25, the SkyTrain Expo Line will have reduced service on weekends as TransLink continues a major rail replacement project.

Service will be affected during early Saturday and Sunday mornings, and late Sunday nights. TransLink is asking transit users to allow up to 20 minutes of extra travel time during the scheduled maintenance.

The "essential maintenance work" is part of the LIM Rail Replacement program, which upgrades the rail assembly that powers the SkyTrain's linear induction motors on the Expo Line. Once complete, it will match the assembly powering the Millennium Line.

Maintenance windows run from 6:15 to 10 a.m. on Saturdays, 7:15 to 10 a.m. on Sundays, and 9:30 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. on Sundays. Service on the Canada Line and Millennium Line will not be affected. TransLink says the LIM Rail Replacement will support optimal system operation and help accommodate SkyTrain expansion and increased ridership. Over the next several years, the program will replace around 60,000 metres of LIM rail along the 30-kilometre Expo Line.
