A 25-year-old already serving a life sentence for the 2022 killing of Surrey businessman Ripudaman Singh Malik has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the manslaughter of an Abbotsford man.

Tanner Fox pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the March 2022 death of Chad Colivas on Latimer Street. According to police, Fox and his accomplice Laetitia Acera broke into Colivas' home on March 21, 2022. Colivas was shot when he confronted Fox, who had forced his way into the residence. Colivas was unarmed and the incident was not associated with any gang conflict, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said.

Fox and Acera were arrested in May 2023. Fox was initially charged with second-degree murder; Acera faced a manslaughter charge. In February 2025, Acera pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of break and enter and received four years in prison plus two years probation. Because she was credited with 2 years and 10 months for pre-sentence custody, she had 14 months of jail left to serve at sentencing time in April 2025.

Fox's earlier conviction involved the July 14, 2022 killing of Malik outside his Surrey business, less than four months after Colivas' death. Fox and Jose Lopez both pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in that case. In January 2025, Fox received an automatic life sentence with no parole eligibility for 20 years. Lopez received the same sentence three months later. Court heard the pair were hired to kill Malik, but neither man revealed who hired them.
