Emeri, a Vancouver matcha brand that launched as a weekend project in 2024, opened its first brick-and-mortar cafe in late June at 2833 Main Street in Mount Pleasant, replacing the longtime Goldilocks Bake Shop.

Founders Josephine Au and Justin Ng have grown the online matcha marketplace into a full retail operation. The cafe offers hand-whisked matcha and soft serve, with extended service times to manage demand during the busy opening period.

The cafe operates 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. In a recent Instagram post, Emeri acknowledged line-ups during grand opening week and noted that hand-whisking every order, especially larger ones, takes time. "We want to ensure every guest receives the care and attention with every drink (or soft serve)," the post read.

Goldilocks Bake Shop had occupied the Mount Pleasant storefront for 18 years before closing.
