East Broadway between Main Street and Quebec Street fully reopened to four vehicle lanes on the morning of Thursday, June 25, marking an early completion of roadwork above the future Mount Pleasant Station for SkyTrain's Millennium Line Broadway extension.

The provincial government said restoration work progressed ahead of schedule. The block had been fully closed for four months before reopening with two lanes on May 20; the full reopening was originally set for July. The south sidewalk along East Broadway also reopened.

Removing the temporary traffic bridge deck spanning the station, installing new underground utilities, filling material above the subway station roof, and restoring the roadway required the initial full closure. Through summer, crews will continue finishing work including sidewalk completion, final asphalt application, green infrastructure installation, and street furniture.

All five subway station construction blocks along Broadway will eventually restore to four vehicle lanes and wider pedestrian sidewalks, reclaiming space previously used for curbside parking. Another extended two-block closure is planned shortly after the World Cup at Broadway between Cambie and Alberta for the future Broadway-City Hall Station. The Broadway Subway project remains on track to open in late fall 2027.
