A New Westminster police officer has been charged with breach of trust in connection with alleged misconduct from last year.

Const. Hardeep Singh Purba is facing two counts of breach of trust, contrary to section 122 of the Criminal Code. The B.C. Prosecution Service approved the charges on Thursday, June 25. His first court appearance is scheduled for July 22.

The Abbotsford Police Department investigated the alleged incidents, which occurred on May 4 and 7, 2025, in New Westminster. The New Westminster Police Department became aware of the misconduct allegations in May 2025 and reported them to the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner. Purba was suspended from duty at that time.

The New Westminster Police Board amended the suspension to being without pay in August 2025. Purba was hired by New Westminster police in April 2024.
