Surrey pedestrian hit by transit bus suffers life-threatening injuries

A man suffered critical, potentially life-threatening injuries after being struck by a transit bus at the intersection of 128th Street and 96th Avenue in Surrey on Saturday night.
Surrey Police Service was called shortly after 9:30 p.m. on July 11 when BC Emergency Health Services reported a seriously injured pedestrian in the roadway. When officers arrived, paramedics were already treating the man. A Coast Mountain bus driver was on scene.
The adult male was transported to hospital with critical, potentially life-threatening injuries, according to Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton. The cause of the collision remains unknown as Surrey Police's Collision Investigation Unit begins its probe.
The intersection was closed for several hours overnight but has since reopened. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to contact Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and reference file 26-72005 (SP).
