Surrey shooting leaves victim with serious injuries
Police arrested one suspect after an overnight shooting outside a Newton home. The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

A man was shot outside a residence on 75 Avenue east of 144A Street early Sunday, June 28, shortly after 12:30 a.m.
Surrey Police Service officers found the victim in his vehicle and provided emergency medical aid until paramedics arrived. He was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.
Officers from the SPS Project Assurance team, who happened to be patrolling the area, located and arrested a suspect vehicle. One adult male was arrested without incident and remains in custody as the Major Crime Unit investigation continues. Charges have not yet been sworn.
Police say the shooting is believed to be targeted and not related to extortion. Witnesses and anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage are asked to contact Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502.
